Early spring, 2011.
My middle son would soon be graduating from the University of Texas. Excited, I signed up for the deluxe graduation package, which included a "professional" portrait along with his robes and stationery.
Heck yeah, I wanted a photo of him in his cap and gown to slip into the invitations!
But when I opened that packet, oh, what a disappointment! There was no depth of field; the UT Tower in the backdrop grew right out of his shoulder. It was actually more prominent than my son!
Plus, Daniel didn't even look like Daniel. His face was photo-shopped to an extreme; he looked like an actor from the '20's or a mime or... well, not like Daniel.
But the photos weren't a waste of money. They gave me the confidence I needed to try my hand at taking his portrait myself. I knew I could do a better job than that!
And I did. Here are a few from our morning shoot.
Congratulations again, Daniel, and thank you!
